Walking Groups
Back to What's on
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings
The Knowle West Health Park hosts three walking groups for people of varying levels of ability, mobility or fitness. The benefits of joining a walking group include the following:
- Meet other people from around south Bristol
- Explore parks and green places with others, in a safe way
- Fun exercise with others to help keep you motivated
- Reduced risk of illness including heart disease, brittle bones, high blood pressure, depression and anxiety
The three Walking Groups meet weekly at the Health Park or at various places around south Bristol. For walks further a-field a minibus may be laid on for a small charge. All you need is a water-proof coat and good flat shoes, to be able to join. Volunteer walk leaders are fully trained to lead the walks, and to assist in ensuring the safety and well being of participants, they will also check that the group is suitable for your level of fitness or mobility or suggest a different group to start with.
Generally the different walking groups meet at the following times but changes may be made to accommodate trips out or special events:
- ONE HEART GROUP Monday mornings
- TWO HEARTS GROUP Thursday mornings
- THREE HEARTS GROUP Tuesday mornings
More hearts means the walks are more strenuous, so three hearts walk the furthest and one heart is more gentle for beginners or for those with limited mobility.
